Alina is one of the Five Old Ones and along with her twin brother, Ghadra, she is the oldest of the Cats. She is depicted as a large Jaguar, her pelt is gold, and her spots shift through the colors of daybreak.
Those who revere her call her “She who Brings the Day”, “The Dawn”, and “The Great Queen”.
She is said to embody all new life and positive choices. She is the patroness of Life itself but is not viewed as purely good by the cats that follow her. Alina is said to have more power in Newleaf and Greenleaf. She is one side of the cycle of life in the world.
Alina is often depicted chasing her brother, Ghadra, around the world bringing the changing seasons and the day and night.
Since her Death in the War of the Old Ones, her power has been embodied in her niece, Nyx.
All Cats have the capability to balance both the dark and light. And as a result, the spirit of Ghadra and Alina are said to exist in all cats. Those that find the proper balance, the ability to make hard choices, while still finding the value in life, are said to have true spiritual strength.
Many believe that Alina is the true power of Nyx and do their utmost to avoid the negative implications of life. Those that do often have an aversion to Death, strive toward kindness even to their own detriment, and see no value in the changes that come with life.
